UK Summit Log Privacy Policy
Effective date: 14 October 2026
Last updated: 14 October 2026
This policy explains what information the UK Summit Log iOS app uses. In short, UK Summit Log doesn't collect any personal data.
- No account is needed. There is no sign-up and no login.
- No ads, no analytics and no tracking. I never sell or share your data.
- Your bagged hills, notes and photos are stored only on your device.
1. Who I am
UK Summit Log is made by Mason, an individual developer based in the United Kingdom. Mason is the controller for any personal data covered by this policy. You can contact me at admin@masonmade.co.uk.
2. Information stored on your device
The app saves the hills you've marked as bagged, the dates, any notes you add, your appearance setting, and any photos you attach. All of this stays in the app's storage on your iPhone. None of it is sent to me or anyone else.
3. Location
If you allow it, the app uses your location only on your device, to show your position on the map. Your location is not stored, recorded or sent anywhere. You can change this permission at any time in iOS Settings.
4. Photos
The app only accesses your photo library when you choose to add a photo to a hill. The photo you pick is copied into the app's storage on your device and is never uploaded.
5. Maps
The map is provided by Apple Maps. To show it, your device loads map tiles from Apple, and Apple handles that under its own privacy policy. UK Summit Log doesn't send Apple your bagged hills or any other app data.
6. Hill data
The hill lists are built into the app, so no network request is needed to use them. The hill data comes from The Database of British and Irish Hills (www.hill-bagging.co.uk/dobih), licensed under CC BY 4.0.
7. Backups
A backup file is only created when you choose Export backup. You then choose where it goes using the iOS share sheet. Photos are not included in backups.
8. Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your device until you remove it in the app or delete the app. Deleting the app removes all of its data. I hold none of your data, so there is nothing for me to delete or export.
9. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have rights to access, correct and delete your personal data. Because everything stays on your device, you can use those rights directly in the app. If you have a question or a complaint, email me. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
10. Children
UK Summit Log isn't aimed at children, and it collects no data from anyone.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, I'll post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
Launch email list (website only)
If you sign up on masonmade.co.uk to be told when an app launches, your email address (and your name, if you give it) is sent to me by FormSubmit. It is held in my developer email inbox and used only to announce app launches. I won't share it or use it for anything else. To be removed, email admin@masonmade.co.uk and I'll delete it. This doesn't apply to the app itself, which collects nothing.
